A Chaotic Day at Work

Hi Guys,
Happy New Year 2008!
Its been a while since I came back from Drakensburg. Days passed by with each Thursday reminding me of the Weekly Status report to be sent to all the big people at work. With the weeeks passing by swiftly and my project deadlines on Monday, I decided to blog down one chaotic day in office. It is not that I am feeling sleepy now ( well I have been in office since Friday morning, now 3:42 AM SA time), but because i was really overwhlemed bythe sheer amount of work that I had been doing since the past few weeks, I decided to jornal my day's activities.

----- BREAK ------

Well actually I didnt take a break. I had my lunch at my desk chatting with my fellow mates. Messages kept coming in my mailbox. Either I had to forward them, reply or validate. There was no scope of ignoring any emails.

13:15 hrs - Remembered that I had to present an End-to-End system flow to a seniour Finance client. Hell No ! The other 3 guys were not interested. I was the chairperson. Fine . Need to take action!
13:20 hrs - Send the Cancel Meeting Request. Reschedule for tomorrow.
13:47 hrs - Done ! Ooph! Clients accepted. Saved for a day.
14:00 hrs - Reviewed and validated the Weekly Status Report
14:00 hrs - Somebody from offshore calls to know what he has to do. Have to spoon feed him!
14:20 hrs - Meets the IT Big Boss - Chief work of the day - Commitments, deliverables, timeliness, milestones, isnt this enough !!! Okay he congratulates me on my hard work. I get the message. I have to work harder!
14:25 hrs - Validation of invoice, spoonfeeding the one guy about testing the invoice; sending the requirements.
15:30 hrs - Send the updated Project Plan to Project Manager
16: 40 hrs - Consolidate the reviews and validations and send to offshore
17: 05 hrs - Forwarding emails to offshore! ( Well I know why their mailbox is alwyas full - if you have the same email sent again and again!)
18:00 hrs - Discussion with offshore about the invoice changes/defects.

- Do you think its time to go home - I dont think SO - It going to be a long night -

19:00 hrs- Call up Scooters Pizza; Order Chicken Gourmet and a Coke.

After a bunch of documentation updates, calling offshore, validation of invoices, I start sending emails to everybody on earth.

21:10 hrs - Sending the updates system specs
21:30 hrs - Sending the Impact Analysis documents
22:20 hrs - Sending the Test Cases to offshore

I guess these activities summarizes my chaotic day at office. I call up Rose Cab and sit at my desk for a while. My foreheard pains and my eyes blur. The security guard comes and informs me of the arrival of the cab. I reach home in the next 30 minutes.
Lights off. I jump onto my sofa, a nice cozy one. My eyes are sleepy and fingers numb. I say to myself - why dont you sleep !

Cool then, Good night!!!!
